Remind The Money Laundering Task Force To Work Optimally, Commission III Of The DPR: We Monitor And Wait For The Good Results

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR RI reminded the task force (Satgas) for the alleged Money Laundering (TPPU) which was formed to handle the settlement of odd transactions worth IDR 349 trillion at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) to work effectively and optimally. This legal commission hopes that the TPPU Task Force will be able to show good results because the disclosure of the alleged money laundering offenses worth Rp. 349 trillion cannot be left alone and evaporated without follow-up and a thorough investigation. "Whatever political will is done by the government, including forming a TPPU Task Force, must be shown with real action, effective, and optimal work, as well as maximum results. This is done solely to uncover TPPU and/or even other potential criminal acts,” said Member of Commission III of the DPR Didik Mukrianto, to reporters, Monday, May 8. According to the Democrat politician, TPPU does not only threaten the stability and integrity of the economic system and the financial system. But it can also endanger the joints of social life, nation, and state. "Don't let illegal money resulting from criminal acts be washed through various financial transactions, so that it seems as if they are legal," said Didik. In addition to investigating findings that have not been followed up by the Ministry of Finance, Didik continued, the TPPU Task Force must also refocus on findings that have been followed up, especially those that have been processed by law or inkrah. "If in the process and the legal decision is found and/or has been decided about the occurrence of the original crime, it can be followed up with the money laundering offense," he said. Regarding the professionalism and independence of the formation of the TPPU Task Force team, Didik reminded that this would depend on the work of the TPPU Task Force to prove it to the public. Therefore, he said, his party would monitor existing developments.

"The most important thing is that the TPPU Task Force can be transparent, professional, accountable, responsive, and open up sufficient space related to public participation," said Didik. "We monitor and wait for the good results of this government's intention, without preceding the work of the Task Force," he added.
