Leading Kopassus, TNI Major General Deddy Suryadi Prioritizes Three Units

JAKARTA - Hundreds of personnel from the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) attended the handover ceremony (Sertijab) of the Kopassus Commander General (Danjen) at the Mako Kopassus field, Cijantung, East Jakarta, Friday, April 28, afternoon.

Along with the sertijab activity, there were also activities for handing over the Kopassus unit from the Commander General (Danjen) of the Kopassus Major General TNI Iwan Setiawan to Major General TNI Deddy Suryadi.

In his statement, Danjen Kopassus Maj. Gen. Deddy Suryadi emphasized that his party will focus on improving the capabilities of Kopassus soldiers individually, be it specialization of skills and abilities.

"We are equipped with defense equipment, which we are currently modernizing from year to year. Hopefully, there will be some equipment, especially for soldiers, both at Parako, Sandi Yhuda and Gultor, we can equip them," said Major General Deddy to the media crew at Makopassus, Cijantung, East Jakarta, Friday, April 28.

Major General Deddy stated that his party would still prioritize three units, namely Parako, Sandi Yhuda and Gultor Kopassus when he became Danjen Kopassus.

"The three (priority). So the main task of the Kopassus is to carry out Parako Operations, Sandi Yhuda and Gultor," he said.

Meanwhile, TNI Major General Iwan Setiawan, who has served as Danjen Kopassus for 1 year and 20 days, felt heavy when he had to part with Kopassus soldiers. According to him, there is an emotional relationship between himself and all Kopassus soldiers and his family.

"They are great people, they are trained people, and they are loyal people to protect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). My message to Pak Deddy, lead Kopassus with a heart. Make Kopassus soldiers feared by opponents, and respected by friends," he said.
