This Is Mahfud MD's Response To Being Called Jokowi Deserves To Be A Vice Presidential Candidate

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD opened his voice about his name which was considered to be one of the potential figures by President Joko Widodo to accompany the Presidential Candidate (Capres) from PDIP Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election.

"We'll just see, our democracy is good, now we're moving forward. People can say people's names, they can also call themselves," Mahfud said when met by reporters in Surabaya, Monday.

Mahfud said that not only President Jokowi can state that someone is suitable to accompany one of the presidential candidates to advance in the political party agenda as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres), but the wider community can do the same. Because, it is part of the sustainability of the democratic climate in Indonesia.

He once again said that President Jokowi's expression was proof that the democratic system in Indonesia was running according to its path.

"That is one of our progresses in democracy. Now the people can also participate in mentioning, good democracy today," he said as quoted by Antara.

However, he did not specify his readiness as a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo to run in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. He also feels that the election stage is still long.

"This is just throwing the ball, no one has yet been final, the ball will still be thrown for a long time. Unless the presidential candidate is a bit definitive, PDIP is definitive because the tickets are already there, others are still throwing the ball. Anyway, let it be narrowed down which one is the best for this nation and country," he said.

Most importantly, he said, every presidential and vice presidential candidate must comply with every existing rule. In addition, the public also has the right to assess and elect the right candidate through the 2024 presidential election.
