Traffic Corps Prepares Backflow Contraflow Up to KM 36 Cikampek

JAKARTA - The National Police Traffic Corps together with relevant stakeholders are preparing a counter-flow traffic engineering plan from KM 70 to KM 36 to anticipate the rise of billions of travelers from the East (Trans-Java) to Jakarta.

Head of the Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Firman Shantyabudhi, explained that his party had prepared several ways of action to provide security for the return flow of Eid 2023.

The police are continuing the one way engineering starting Monday, April 24 from KM 414 Kalikangkung Toll Gate to GT Cikampek Utama, and will continue contraflow from KM 70 to KM 47 using three lanes.

"If the generation of homecoming vehicles from east to west increases, contraflow traffic engineering will continue until KM 36", Firman said as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, April 23.

The contraflow system, he said, would continue up to KM 21 with a note that if KM 70 to KM 66 was applied to two lanes. Then, up to KM 48 using three lanes.

"Contraflow at KM 48 to KM 36 is two lanes and when it's busy, it's continued with KM 36 to 21 of the Cikampek Toll Road", said Firman.

Another step, said Firman, is to make toll roads functional to accommodate voters, namely for people going to Bandung, Sumedang and their surroundings will be escorted through Cisumdawu.

"This was only prepared until 16.00 WIB", said Firman.

Then, there is a diversion on the Cipularang Toll Road through Jakarta-Cikampek 2 Sadang, the aim is to avoid the meeting between Cipularang and Cipali which will enter the Cikampek Toll Road.

Apart from one way and contraflow, the National Police Traffic Corps is also preparing traffic engineering with an odd-even system.

"We will socialize this implementation and urge the public to travel at the peak of the Bali traffic from April 24 to 25 to go according to the license plate", said Firman.

If the volume of vehicles heading to Jakarta increases during this mild flow, the party is considering extending the implementation of contraflow traffic engineering to the inner-city toll road.

"We provide one lane until access to the exit of the toll road in the city", he said.

The Police Traffic Corps has updated the information on the implementation of traffic engineering for Eid 2023 military flow, namely the first period from Monday, April 24 to Wednesday, April 26 one way is applied from KM 414 Kalikangkung to KM 72 Cikampek Utama. Contraflow was also carried out at KM 71 Cikampek Utama  to KM 47 West Karawang.

For the second period of return flow, on Saturday, April 29 to Tuesday, May 5 one way is applied from KM 414 Kalikangkung to KM 72 Cikampek Utama, accompanied by contraflow at KM 71 Cikampek to KM 47 West Karawang.

The Police Traffic Corps also informed that this traffic engineering could also change according to the discretion of the police considering the situation of traffic conditions in the field.
