BMKG Urges Travelers To Beware Of Potential Bad Weather In Some Areas

JAKARTA - Head of the Public Meteorology Center of the Meteorology, Climatology, Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Fachri Radjab said the public needs to be aware of the potential for rain in several regions in Indonesia during the Eid homecoming period.

"For the Eid al-Fitr transportation period, 2023 homecoming flow, which needs to be watched out for rain with heavy to very heavy intensity, which is red in Aceh, South Sumatra, West Java, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and Papua," said Fachri Radjab, in Jakarta, Saturday, April 8.

In addition, several areas are also expected to experience rain, namely the Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, Jabodetabek, Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Central Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, and also Papua.

Meanwhile, the Head of the BMKG Maritime Meteorology Center, Eko Prasetyo, also asked people who would go home by sea to be aware of high waves.

"It is necessary to be vigilant to avoid shipping around the waters west of Sumatra, south of Java to Nusa Tenggara, this must be avoided, also in northern Papua must also be avoided, not to be used or used for shipping activities or to be avoided," said Eko Prasetyo.

He also asked the public to anticipate delays in shipping activities due to rainy weather that is expected to occur in several areas in Indonesia.

"Most of these ports in Indonesia have the potential for rain, automatically this requires their own vigilance or adaptation for travelers who want to go home by sea," said Eko Prasetyo.

Eko Prasetyo added that the BMKG will continue to provide weather information and wave heights so that people are asked to continue to monitor the latest weather developments before sailing.
