The Peak Of Homecoming Flows Via Belawan Port, Medan, Predicted April 15-18, 2023

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Medan predicts the peak of the Lebaran homecoming flow from Belawan Port, Medan, will occur from 15 to 18 April 2023. The maximum capacity of KM Kelud, the ship alerted by PT Pelni Medan during the Eid transportation period, is in the range of 2,600 people. However, if there is a spike beyond the estimate, Biwa said that his party would coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation to request additional passenger number on board. "There is usually a dispensation from the Ministry of Transportation during the peak of passengers," said Biwa. To anticipate the high number of passengers, PT Pelni Medan dispatched KM Kelud once in two to three days around the estimated homecoming peak, namely on 13, 15, 18 and 20 April 2023 with the aim of Belawan-Batam to go home. Total, throughout the Eid transportation period set by PT Pelni, namely 7 April- 8 May 2023, there were nine departures KM Kelud from Belawan with details six times on 8-30 April 2023 and three times on 1-7 May 2023. The KM Kelud was aimed at Belawan-Tanjung Balai Karimun-Batam-Tanjung Priok, then Belawan-Batam-Bajang-Tanjung Priok and Belawan-Batam went home.

To assist the operation of KM Kelud, PT Pelni Medan also prepared another ship, namely KM Doryonda, which departed on Wednesday (19/4) for Belawan-Batam-Kijang. KM Dorolinda only operates at the time of homecoming. The peak of backflow at Belawan Port is predicted to occur on April 30, 2023.
