Don't Be Afraid, Moeldoko Asks The Inspectorate To Be More Fierce And Obligatory

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko emphasized the importance of the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) being more courageous in supervising and enforcing regulations in the bureaucracy. This firm attitude, he said, was not only about corruption cases that have occurred recently, but also due to the decline in the Corruption Perception Index to the same level as in 2014.

The current situation is not okay. This is an alarm, don't let us leave a legacy in the form of a decline in the corruption perception index. I ask the inspector to be more fierce and spurious. Through your hands, enforce authority and rules," said Moeldoko at the Coordination Meeting of the National Strategy for Corruption Prevention (Stranas PK), at the Krida Bhakti building, Monday, April 3.

This time, the PK Stranas Coordination Meeting focuses on strengthening the Inspectorate General, Inspectorate, internal supervisors of ministries/agencies, and implementing corruption prevention actions in 2023-2024. Present at the coordination meeting, Deputy for Prevention of the KPK Pahala Nainggolan, and representatives of the Stranas PK team from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kemenpan, Bappenas, KPK, and all Inspector General, Main Inspector, and Inspector of ministries/agencies.

According to Moeldoko, all APIPs at the central and regional levels must have a sense of urgency in preventing corruption. Moreover, the government is currently in the public spotlight regarding the emergence of corruption cases of State Civil Apparatus and Law Enforcement Officials.

The 2013-2015 TNI commander advised inspectors to be introspective, not defensive, and open to improvement input.

If there are irregularities related to ASN behavior whose sources of wealth cannot be proven and accounted for, we must be vigilant. In fact, if our leadership performs risky maneuvers, we must remind them before OTT or law enforcement occurs," Moeldoko's message.

On that occasion, Moeldoko also emphasized the importance of strengthening the corruption prevention system in Stranas PK 2023-2024. So that corruption prevention is more focused, measurable, and impactful.

He also hopes that in Stranas PK 2023-2024, there should be no ministries/agencies in central agencies that are capable of APIP and SPIP below level 3 at the end of 2024. For this reason, capacity, system maturity, and independence are very important for strengthening internal control.

"I hope this meeting can produce new ways related to internal supervision and enforcement of bureaucratic integrity. Don't just meetings and just pass. There must be an impact," concluded Moeldoko.
