Rizieq Shihab Not Fulfilling The Second Call Of Police, Attorney: He Is Still Recovering

JAKARTA - High Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab did not fulfill the second summons for questioning. Rizieq's absence was said to be due to a collision with an event and was still in the recovery phase.

"There is something and other things so that (Rizieq Shihab) cannot fulfill the summons and be represented by us," said member of the FPI lawyer team, Aziz Yanuar, to reporters, Monday, December 7.

The activities referred to by lawyers are family matters. This event is said to take place outside the city.

"He is still recovering while there are family needs which were carried out last night while he was still with family matters," he explained.

Investigators have also accepted the reason for Rizieq's absence. Although this has an impact on the possibility of forced pickup, Aziz said that he had coordinated this matter with investigators.

"(Forced pick-up) which was put forward is within their authority. However, here we are still coordinating well with the police regarding the inspection of HRS and Habib Hanif," he said.

Previously it was reported that Rizieq Shihab was scheduled to undergo questioning at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, December 7. This examination was related to a case of alleged violation of the health protocol (prokes) at the wedding of his daughter, Najwa Shihab.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus, said that in this examination schedule, investigators also summoned Rizieq's son-in-law, Hanif Alatas. This examination is the second time after they were not present at the first call for examination.

Investigators in the interrogation will later investigate the wedding ceremony that was held at Rizieq's residence in the Petamburan area, Central Jakarta.
