JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received an honorary visit from the Prime Minister (PM) of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

Reporting from setkab.go.id, a number of things were discussed at the meeting of the two leaders of this country. One of the highlights is about scholarship opportunities and soccer training for Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Hungary.

Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno Marsudi said this meeting was not the first. Some time ago, the two leaders held a meeting.

The first thing that was discussed, said the Foreign Minister, was the commitment of the two leaders to continue to improve bilateral relations. In terms of distance, the Foreign Minister continued, Indonesia and Hungary have a long distance, but if seen from the substance of the relationship between the two countries, it is increasing over time.

"Well, with such a long distance, the first important thing to do is to build people-to-people relations," said the Foreign Minister.

On that occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that building people to people contacts, several things had been done, including from a scholarship program.

"The Hungarian government provides one hundred (100) scholarship for Indonesian students, and earlier discussed the fields the students will use," said the Foreign Minister.

During the bilateral meeting, according to the Foreign Minister, the President conveyed that the scholarship was related to science, then technology innovation, which was a priority.

The second point of discussion, according to the Foreign Minister, from the Hungarian side is committed to simplifying the visa process for Indonesian citizens.

"Third, we are still working on people to people contact, we have cooperation related to sports, namely training Indonesian football players in Hungary," said the Foreign Minister.
