Remind Candidates For Regional Head, KPK: Pilkada Is Not A Power Trade Event

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron reminded every regional head candidate (cakada) that the regional head election process (pilkada) is not an arena for power trading.

"The process of this pilkada is to become a leader not to trade power, to buy Rp. 100,000, to buy Rp. 200 thousand, Rp. 500 thousand to Rp. 1 million to the people in power and then to trade to entrepreneurs," said Ghufron during the 2020 Pilkada Equipments Webinar broadcast on the KPK Youtube Channel account, reported Between, Thursday, 19 November.

This briefing was attended by candidates for regional heads and election organizers from the Provinces of East Java, West Kalimantan and Papua.

"So, the Corruption Eradication Commission is present at this time, only to remind again not to get misguided, to fight at the expense of all the money. Yes, energy and everything but it turns out that the intention is wrong to trade power. If you want to trade power then what happens we will be prepared. after winning, the KPK will attend, "he said.

Ghufron also reminded the elected regional head candidates not to think about the capital they must return.

For example, he said, the capital that a candidate for regional head must spend is Rp. 30 billion, but later he expects to return Rp. 100 billion in capital when elected.

"If then only power traders are born, with capital of 30 (Rp. 30 billion), but in the future we hope to return 100 (Rp. 100 billion) etc., then we are actually on the wrong path," he said.

Therefore, he said, the Rp. 30 billion capital should not be capital to make a profit, but capital to lead and provide benefits to the people.

"So assume that the Rp. 30 billion capital is not capital to make a profit but is capital to lead to benefit the people. The capital you are fighting for is not for trading capital which then when you sit down will be bought and sold the authority of the permit, the power of authority to regulate HR, permits, SDA, and others, "he said.
