DPR: Deadline For Submitting The Draft Job Creation Law 14 October 2020

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Political and Security Coordinator (Korpolkam) Azis Syamsuddin said the deadline for submitting the draft of the Work Creation Law falls on Wednesday, October 14 2020 at 00.00 WIB.

In a press conference at the Parliamentary Complex of the Republic of Indonesia, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, he said, the grace period based on the disciplinary mechanism of the DPR RI Article 164, that the DPR RI has a period of 7 days after the meeting to ratify the second level Law is held.

However, referring to Article 1 point 18 of the DPR RI Rules of Procedure, what is meant by working days is Monday-Friday.

"So that the deadline for submitting the Job Creation Law will fall on October 14, 2020, to be precise tomorrow (Wednesday) at 00.00 WIB," said Azis, quoted by Antara , Tuesday, October 13.

This Golkar Party politician added that when the Job Creation Law was sent to the President as the Head of Government, the Omnibus Law officially became public property.

Azis said that the nine political party factions in the Indonesian Parliament had agreed, followed and submitted an Inventory of Problems List (DIM) of the Job Creation Law which would be sent to President Joko Widodo.

"9 factions agreed to (be involved) in conducting the discussion," said Azis.

Then the DPR RI Legislation Body also included nine factions in almost 89 meetings.

"Meetings with community leaders, meetings with labor leaders, meetings with educational leaders, business leaders, were held up to 89 meetings. The process was carried out both physically and virtually," said Azis.

Azis said all data and evidence of recorded conversations will also be attached to the government together with the draft of the Job Creation Law.

He clarified why the final draft has not yet been sent to the government.

Azis said the reason for the draft of the Job Creation Law had not been sent to this day was because the Secretary General of the Indonesian Parliament Indra Iskandar was not ready.

"In this case, the Secretary General, Pak Indra reported to the leadership of the DPR, needed time to do editing, the typing process, in order to prepare attachments related to the Job Creation Law," said Azis.

Azis said that based on the latest information he received from the DPR Secretary General, the number of pages in the final draft of the Job Creation Law had again changed to 812 pages.
