Terawan: Vaccination For COVID-19 Will Start In Early November

JAKARTA - Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto said that the COVID-19 vaccination will begin in early November this year. This is known from the meeting between the government and the COVID-19 vaccine producers Cansino, Sinopharm, and Sinovac in China.

In November, vaccine manufacturer, Cansino, undertook deliveries of 100,000 vaccines (single dose). Then, G42 / Sinopharm undertook 15 million doses of vaccine ( dual dose ) this year, of which 5 million doses will start coming in November 2020.

Meanwhile, Sinovac has undertaken 3 million doses of vaccine by the end of December 2020, with a commitment to deliver 1.5 million doses of vaccine ( single dose vials ) in the first week of November and another 1.5 million doses of vaccine (single dose vials ) in the first week of December 2020, plus 15 million doses of vaccine in bulk form.

"In the early stages, we will give priority to vaccines to those at the forefront, namely medical and paramedics, public services, TNI / Polri, and all educators," said Terawan in his statement, Monday, October 12.

Furthermore, in 2021, Sinopharm will seek 50 million ( dual dose ), Cansino 20 million ( single dose ), Sinovac 125 million ( dual dose ).

Terawan said, in the near future, the BUMN in charge of vaccine procurement, namely Bio Farma, will explain to the public the costs of purchasing vaccines from all of its collaborative partners.

He continued, the forefronts and those who cannot afford the economy will be paid for their vaccines by the Government.

"Those who are in the forefront and participants of Contribution Aid Recipients aka PBI in BPJS Health will be covered by the cost of the vaccine by the government," he said.

Furthermore, Terawan said that detailed preparations for this vaccination program were continuing, with the priority of health workers and security forces who were at the forefront of handling Covid-19.

The COVID-19 vaccination program has been carried out to ensure the readiness of health facilities in Indonesia and will soon carry out simulations in several health centers. Training for health workers on the procedures for vaccinating COVID-19 has been conducted since the end of September 2020.
