The Story Behind The Song Kucinta Kau As It Is From Once Mekel

JAKARTA - Apart from his music career with Dewa, Once Mekel has several hit songs that he released as a soloist. One of the best known songs is Kucinta Kau As It Is (Aku Mau) from the album Once (2012).

Apparently, the process of entering the song into the debut album Once has a unique story, and is inversely proportional to the character who is quite a perfectionist regarding the recording process.

Once Mekel said, the song Kucinta Kau As It Is (I Want) was first recorded with Pay Burman for song demonstration purposes.

"The song Kucinta Kau As It Is, it's actually a demonstration, when we make up songs in the studio with Pay," said Once, when we were guests on XVG TV, we were seen Tuesday, October 24.

"Usually, if we work with Pay, making four songs and even more it's normal. Yes, just make it fun, nothing to lose. Make a guide, which one is good, we'll take care of it more intensively," he continued.

However, the demo of the song turned out to be playing at a radio station in Makassar, and received a good response from listeners.

Seeing the listener's response, the label decided to release the song Kucinta Kau Apa Adanya as one of the songs from the album Once.

According to Once, his vocals in the song were not re-recorded. The vocals used are the same vocals as the demo version.

"Yes, maybe a little mixing or something before it's released," he added.

In addition, Once also told how he was related to Pay Burman. Since the early 1990s, they have known each other and released songs.

"He (Pay Burman) once invited me to take part in the recording. For fun, actually, Pay is the best for fun," said Once Mekel.

"Iseng-iseng tahu jadi saja. Bahkan lagunya waktu itu sempat masuk chart (lagu web)," pungkasnya.
