Peter Gabriel Announces Release Date And Detail Album I/o

JAKARTA - Former Genesis vocalist Peter Gabriel announced the details of his new album, i/o, his first new material collection in more than 20 years.

Throughout 2023, Gabriel has released a new song every time there is a full moon, and she has played shows across the UK, Europe and North America.

"After being released for years on the full moon, I am very happy to see all these new songs get back together on a good i/o ship and ready for their journey to the outside world," Gabriel said in his statement.

Gabriel's album i.o. recorded at Gabriel's Real World Studios near Bath. Together with Gabriel, the album features regular contributions from guitarist David Rhodes, bassist Tony Levin and drummer Manu Katche.

There are also recordings of Soweto Gospel Choir and Swedish male choir Oprhei DrUNgar, while several songs, according to a press release, Brian Eno has car fingerprints.

Gabriel's last new material album was Up 2002, although since then he has released flight My Back (2010), a cover version album, and New Blood (2011), which consists of re-recording the orchestra from songs from all over his career.

One of the full moon recordings included in i/o is the Four Kinds of Horses which was released in May. This song features Gabriel's daughter Melanie, as a background vocalist and Eno (synthesizer).

Other previously released songs include Pantopticom and The Court.
