Keith Richards Said Arthritis Changed Its Guitar Game

JAKARTA - Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards discussed how his guitar playing style changed over time, partly because of arthritis.

The legendary guitarist, who returns to play on Stones' upcoming new album, Hackney Diamonds, talks about his evolution with the instrument, especially with age.

"The interesting thing is the more you play it, the less you know it," he told the BBC.

This gives you endless questions. You'll never know everything. Impossible," he continued.

When asked if the arthritis in his hands affected his playing skills, he replied: "The funny thing is, I'm sure it did happen, but I don't feel any pain, this is a harmless version. I think if my speed slows down a bit, it might be because of age."

"And also, I think it's interesting, when I think, 'I can't do that anymore,' the guitar will show me that there's another way to do it. Some fingers will move to a different place and the new door will open."

The album Hackney Diamonds is confirmed to feature Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Elton John andmoto Wonder. Stones' 24th studio album with the first new material in 18 years will be coming October 20.
