Disturbed Vocalist David Draiman About Hamas Attack On Israel: My Heart Is Broken

JAKARTA - The vocalist of the Disturbed metal band, David Draiman, condemned the Hamas attack on Israel which killed more than 900 Israelis and injured more than 2,400 others.

In response to Palestinian militants in Gaza who fired a series of deadly rockets and sent gunmen to Israeli territory, the zionist nation launched attacks on what they called Hamas targets in Gaza.

Draiman, 50, Jewish descent, via his Instagram on Tuesday shared a video message.

"David Draiman from Disturbed here. It took me a little time to process the incident over the past 72 hours, I'm still in a state of shock and sadness," he opened.

"There is no justification for the barbarity and inhumanity shown over the past few days against Jews in Israel, and there is no justification for supporting such actions, inhumane acts committed against Jews around the world," he continued.

"My heart is broken." The tearful vocalist then added, "Am Yisrael Chai," which means "the Jewish nation is alive."

Meanwhile on the same day, US President Joe Biden called the Hamas attack a "very evil act" and said more than 1,000 civilians were "sacred" in Israel, including at least 14 Americans killed.

At least 765 people died in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli retaliatory airstrikes, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health.

In addition to Draiman who can speak Hebrew, who has been trained as a singer and plans to become a preacher, Disturbed is also equipped with guitarist / keyboardist Dan Donegan, bassist John Moyer, and drummer Mike Wengren.

Draiman's father and grandfather served in the Israeli Defense Force and the two grandparents of the vocalist's mother were Holocaust survivors. His grandfather is also a singer in Israel.

In December two years ago, Draiman said he had lost thousands of social media followers since publishing his trip to Israel in November that year.

Draiman lit candles on the Western Wall in Jerusalem, Israel at the site of the Old City terror attack that killed South African immigrant Eli Kay. He later claimed to have lost 4,000 followers after sharing a photo of his "demonstration" on the Western Wall.

Draiman spent most of 2014 and early 2015 linking articles on conservative and pro-Israeli blogs and often used his fame to speak out against anti-Semitism.

The lyric theme of the song Disturbed is titled Never Again, from the 2010 album Asylum, about the Holocaust and calls on people who deny it.

The United States Holocaust Museum featured Draiman on the podcast "Viices On Anti-Semitism".
