Gokil! More Than 1 Million People Attend Concerts In London

JAKARTA - More than one million people attended at least one of the 22 concerts held in London last week.

The concert, which took place in the British capital last week, includes two of Bruce Springsteen's sold-out shows at Hyde Park.

Also the two-night Blur concert at Wembley Stadium, The 1975 show which sold out at Hyde Park as well as the performances of Billy Joel and Lana Del Rey festivals.

According to research conducted by the Music Venue Trust and City Hall, the show 'enhanced' London's economy with an estimated ticket sale of 320 million.

Additional spending is associated with booking hotel rooms, eating outside, and public transportation travel.

Music is the glue that brings London together. It's amazing to see so many people celebrating the extraordinary culture of various music that is an important part of our modern British identity," said Beverley Whitrick of the Music Venue Trust quoted by NME, Friday.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sadiq Khan, who attended the Springsteen show on Saturday night with his wife Saadiya, said the music was inspiring in a unique way.

"(Music) brings together people who cannot be done by others, and plays an important role in encouraging our economic recovery," Sadiq said.

"From our world-class stadium to the grassroots that dig up the talents of the next generation, London is an undeniable world leader in live music, and much more is coming this summer," he continued.

Other upcoming shows to London next month include Stormzy, The Strokes, and Haim who will be the main performers of this year's All Points East festival at Victoria Park.

There's also The Weeknd, which recently appeared in front of more than 100,000 people last weekend at the London Stadium, returning to London with a show almost sold out at Wembley Stadium.
