BMW Introduces BMW IX1 EDrive20, Entry-Level Variant At More Affordable Prices

JAKARTA - BMW presents BMW iX1 eDrive20, the newest all-electric variant of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in the premium compact segment and joins SAV xDrive30 which was released last June, but is offered at a more affordable price.

This variant comes with most of the features and equipment that are the same as models that are already on the market, but at the price BMW wants to open up opportunities for various groups to enjoy the sensation of premium driving without emissions.

Behind the luxury of BMW's typical premium exterior, this variant has the same fifth generation BMW-made electric drive system as the first iX1. The system consists of a double electric motor located at the front axis, and a 64.7 kWh-capacity battery, which is also equal to xDrive30.

iX1 eDrive20 has a maximum power of up to 204 dk and a torque of 247 Nm with the addition of the temporary Boost feature when activated. With this impressive power, this latest SAV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/hour within 8.6 seconds by reaching its highest speed of up to 170 km/hour.

Meanwhile, with this battery capacity of 64.7 kWh, it is possible to travel up to 475 km with a single charge, which is actually slightly further than the xDrive30 which is only capable of traveling up to 438 km.

Reporting from BMW's official website, Tuesday, September 5, the latest entry-level variant of BMW iX1 BMW iX1 is equipped with various standard features including the BMW Maps navigation system, 2 zone automatic AC, various modern driver assistance systems, and innovative digital services.

The main features are a new BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect" and the BMW 9 Operating System which allows for better access to digital content, over-the-air functional updates, and higher personalization.

In addition, a 10.25-inch BMW Curved Display and a 10.7-inch control display also look more attractive, while "QuickSelect" makes system usage more intuitive and efficient. This creates a more sophisticated and comfortable driving experience.

BMW iX1 eDrive20 has impressive charging with a DC fast charging measuring 130 kW can be charged 10 to 80 percent within 29 minutes. Meanwhile, standard 11 kW AC charging is capable of charging from 0 to 100 km/hour within 6.5 hours.

Speaking of prices, the BMW iX1 eDrive20 which will be produced in November 2023 with a price tag starting at 47,900 euros or around IDR 787.3 million or much cheaper than the xDrive30, which is priced at no less than 54,800 euros or IDR 900 million.

While in the entry-level electric vehicle segment, BMW iX1 competes with several EV models, such as Lexus UX 300e, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Tesla Model Y, and Mercedes-Benz EQA.
