JAKARTA - Irham Acho Bahtiar, the Bugis-Tolaki director, is back with his unique latest work entitled Coto Vs Konro. This film presents a comedy drama story set in the culinary world, especially Bugis Makassar, namely Coto and Konro.

This film tells the story of Haji Matto's Coto shop owned by Haji Matto (Luhfi Sato) which is famous for Coto's prescription from his ancestors that is incomparable. One day, my son Daeng Sangkala (Awaluddin Tahir) with the intention of buying and developing a Coto Haji Matto shop became a big franchise business.

Ideal Haji Matto rejected the offer loudly. Daeng Sangkala then opened a typical Makassar Konro restaurant called Konro Daeng Sangkala which is located in direct contact with Haji Matto's stall.

Applying an intense promotional strategy and maximum service by recruiting Rustam (Pieter Ell) as an experienced manager and consultant despite being a little cunning, over time the maneuver of Konro Daeng Sangkala managed to make Haji Matto loyal customers move to Daeng Sangkala.

The feud between the two stalls is getting hotter, especially since the relationship between their two children, namely Rizal (Adit Triyuda) and Sara (Nielam Amir) is getting closer.

"If we usually see where there is a Koro shop, there is usually a coto menu, and vice versa. But in the 'Coto Vs Konro' the two menus will find it difficult to unite. Why? And will it be united later? Yes, watch the film to find out," said Irham Acho Bahtiar quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, September 14.

This film is ready to air in November 2023. Acho said that the film Coto Vs Konro is not only entertaining but also has an implied inspirational message and is easy for the audience to understand. This film wraps these messages in the story, which should be enjoyed directly by the audience.

"I want to raise simple themes that we usually see in everyday environments. How trivial things sometimes become something exciting," he said.

Unlike most national films that rely on well-known artists to attract audience interest, Coto Vs Konro presents a different attraction.

This film comes with the second special Bugis dish that is already known throughout the archipelago as the main star.

Sutradar, who is often called Acho, is known as a director who likes to raise local wisdom themes typical of Eastern Indonesia, one of which is a comedy film called Epen Cupen the Movie (2015) which has aired on Netflix with the title Papua in Love.

Acho explained that his latest film was produced by the Ambassador of Light Utama (DCU) in collaboration with his own production house, Rumah Ant Film.

This film has completed shooting for about 20 days in Makassar City and has received a Sensor Decent Certificate (STLS) from the Film Censorship Institute (LSF) in the 13 year and over age category.

Acho highlighted the importance of local talent in the production of this film. He managed to get various original Sulawesi talents, especially comedians such as Zakaribo, Musdalifah, Ichal Kate, Anjas Chambank, Adit Triyuda, Nielam Amir, Pieter Ell, and dangdut singer Aty Kodong.

The appearances of the two main characters, namely Luthfi Sato and the late Awaluddin Tahir, were also highlighted because they were considered capable of proving that the quality of acting did not only belong to young players.
