CENTRAL LOMBOK - woven cloth is a form of wastra that is the identity of the people of Lombok. One of them is that this weaving activity can be found in Sukarara Tourism Village, Central Lombok.

Central Lombok Regent, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province H Lalu Pathul Bahri said the weaving culture tradition in Sukara Tourism Village must be maintained and preserved to support the weaving fabric industry in this area.

"We must preserve this fabric culture together to support the economic growth of the community," he said during the begawe Jelo Nyesek (weaving masal) event which was held in the Sukara Weaving Tourism Village, Jonggat District, Saturday.

The development in Central Lombok is carried out into three parts, namely in the north, middle and south. As in the middle, there is agriculture and industrial activities, including the weaving culture in Sukarara Village.

"The people of Central Lombok must maintain the culture of this Nyesek fabric," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, July 8.

The Regent also expressed his appreciation to the provincial government and village governments as well as the community who have supported the Begawe Festival, Jelo Nyesek 2023.

Provincial governments and local governments as well as village governments continue to synergize and collaborate to preserve the weaving culture in NTB.

"The synergy of all parties must continue to be improved to support this weaving industry," he said.

Previously, the Chairperson of the Begawe Committee Jelo Nyesek 2023, Syamsul Bahri, said that this event involved 2023 weaving residents in Sukara Village.

In addition to weaving activities, several other activities have been carried out to support the Begawe Jelo Nyesek 2023 event.

"This activity is expected to increase the economic growth of the community or weaving people in the Sukara Tourism Village," he said.

This event is also a form of momentum to increase tourism promotions in Central Lombok, so that it can increase tourist visits.

"This is to support an increase in tourist visits in Central Lombok," he said.

The peak of the jewe jelo Nyesek was also attended by the Governor of NTB Dr Zulkiflimansyah, the Head of the Central Lombok OPD, youth leaders and local communities.
