Exciting, Information Museum Will Road Show Around Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Information Museum plans to hold a road show or a traveling show to visit other cities in the country.

The Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Dirjen IKP Kemenkominfo), Usman Kansong, called the activity an effort to attract more enthusiasts and communities to the Information Museum.

"I have asked the Information Museum to show off next year to approach the public to public spaces, so all this time we have tended to wait, in the future we will come," he said at the Information Museum, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, Saturday, April 29.

Usman said, in the early stages, the road show will be carried out in about three locations a year, before it is carried out routinely launched once a month.

The museum, which is synonymous with various collections in the field of communication and informatics, plans to feature selected collections, such as one of the historical gem collections of a camera that recorded a Giant Meeting in Ikada Field (Djakarta Athletics Association) on September 19, 1945.

The incident was a brief speech from President Soekarno in front of thousands of Indonesians in Ikada Square in commemoration of one month since the proclamation of independence.

"Of course not all of our collections are brought, only superior collections, one of which is the camera used to record events on the Ikada field, there is also Adinegoro's notes, he is a pioneer journalist in the country," explained Usman as quoted by ANTARA.

The locations targeted by the Ministry of Communication and Information as the manager of the Information Museum include shopping centers, airports, and other crowded community locations.

Apart from the general public, he continued, the community is also the main target to be closer to the Information Museum such as the arts community, history, and the younger generation. Museum managers hope to build positive synergies in an effort to bring museums closer to the community.

According to him, communities play an important role in the existence of a museum. Communities are one of the liaison agents that can establish communication between museums and the wider community.

"We want to build a community, the community is not awaited but invited and approached, therefore our principle is to approach the public, our hope to form a community," added Usman.

The Information Museum was inaugurated by President Soeharto on April 20, 1993 by ratifying the name Information which witnessed the history of the Ministry of Communication which became the first 12 ministries after Indonesia Merdeka.

It is one of the Technical Implementation Units of the Directorate General of Information and Public Communication, Kemenkominfo, the Information Museum is located in the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah complex area, East Jakarta.
