Gal Gadot Confirms Playing Cleopatra

JAKARTA - Successfully playing Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot is trusted to play the iconic character Cleopatra.

Launching Variety today, October 12, this film will be produced by Paramount Pictures and directed by Patty Jenkins, director of Wonder Woman .

Previously, various rumors regarding the Cleopatra film dragged various actresses such as Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie. But this time Paramount Pictures won the project while beating Apple, Universal, Warner Bros and Netflix.

In addition, the script will be written by Laeta Kalogridis, Shutter Island scriptwriter.

Through his Instagram, Gal Gadot announced his new project. "Sharing the story the first time through a female perspective, behind and in front of the camera. We are excited to announce this on International Day of the Girl!"

"We hope women and girls all over the world, will not give up on their dreams and make their voices heard, and for other women," said Gal Gadot.

Gal Gadot will play the last ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt and the couple Julius Caesar and Marc Antony. This iconic figure has been played by actresses Claudette Colbert and Elizabeth Taylor.

It is not yet known when Cleopatra's film will start production.

Meanwhile, Gal Gadot's new project, Wonder Woman 1984 was postponed to December 25, 2020.
