Reading Anies' Closeness To The 212 Reunion Mass

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan was warmly welcomed by the participants of the 212 Grand Reunion, at Monas Silang, Jakarta, Monday, December 2. Some of them even shouted Anies as the President of Indonesia.

The executive director of the National Survey Media (Median), Rico Marbun, assessed that this event enabled Anies to use the 212 Alumni Association as a political vehicle in the 2024 elections. Moreover, PA 212 often invited Anies on various occasions.

"It is clear that this movement is endorsing political figures for 2024. Explicitly 212's closeness to Anies Baswedan opened this up," he said when contacted by VOI, Monday, November 2.

However, according to Rico, PA 212 has no close ties with the NasDem Party, which currently has a relationship with Anies.

Some even considered that the NasDem Party was interested in supporting Anies in the 2024 presidential election because of the intimate relationship between Anies and the General Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh.

"212 is very anti-party which is called close and supports blasphemers. So I am a little wondering, what will the triangular relationship between Anies, 212 and the NasDem Party be," he said.

Even so, Rico considered, PA 212 did not turn into a party so that it could carry Anies as president.

"If he becomes a political party it will automatically collapse (the movement). Because 212 is a forum for coordination between movements and Islamic political parties," he concluded.
