Ensuring Electricity Is Safe, PLN Alerts 31 Thousand Personnel Ahead Of Eid
JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) ensures that electricity supply ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 1441 Hijriyah or Eid is safe. As many as 31 thousand personnel were alerted to maintain the electricity system in all regions in Indonesia.
PLN estimates that the peak electricity load on this year's Eid holiday will not experience significant changes. Executive Vice President of Corporate Communication & CSR of PLN I Made Suprateka explained that the electricity load which did not experience significant changes was due to large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) imposed in a number of regions and the ban on going home by the central government.
Made said, specifically for the Java-Bali system it has a supply capacity of up to 30,228 megawatts (MW) with a peak load of 16,612 MW with an operating reserve of 13,616 MW.
As for the overall national power supply capacity of 44,273.21 MW and a peak load of 26,649.98 MW, so there is a national power reserve capacity of 17,623.23 MW.
"In general, electricity supply throughout Indonesia is safe," he said, in a written statement received by VOI in Jakarta, Saturday, May 23.
Not only that, to maintain system reliability, PLN has also set a standby period on D-7 to H + 7 Lebaran from 17 May to 31 May. During the standby period, PLN also prepared 2,327 posts spread across units such as generators, transmissions, load management, transmission, distribution, power plants (Control Rooms and Dispatcher Rooms), 123 Call Centers, Command Centers, and Technical Service Posts.
Made said that PLN officers will remain on standby in their respective work units to maintain reliable electricity supply. This has also been regulated in the Minister of Health Regulation Number 9 of 2020 in which public service companies providing electricity can still operate.
"During this standby period, we also ensure that we do not carry out network maintenance, starting from generators, transmissions, substations, and distribution," he said.
During this standby period, Made continued, PLN also adheres to the COVID-19 protocol by ensuring that all officers use personal protective equipment (PPE), masks, and equip officers with hand sanitizers.
