Different Police Data-Komnas PA Regarding Women's Kekeraan, National Police Chief: I Don't Know Where It Disappeared
JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is surprised that there is a difference in the number of cases of violence against women reported to the National Commission on Violence Against Women and Children (Komnas PA) and handled by the Police. In fact, the difference reaches thousands.
Sigit's surprise began when he conveyed Komnas Perempuan's data regarding cases of violence totaling 401,975 cases
"If we look at the number, there is still a significant difference in Komnas, it is 401,975 for violence against women, while child violence is 15,120," said Sigit in his remarks at The Tribrata, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 17.
Meanwhile, for cases handled by the National Police, only 105,475 cases. Where, domestic violence or domestic violence is one of the highest cases.
"The highest is domestic violence, then sexual abuse, physical and psychological violence and sexual intercourse and rape," he said.
"This means that here there is a fairly large gap related to the comparison of data at Komnas with what is handled by the Directorate of PPO and PPA. I don't know where the loss is, where is the disappearance?" continued Sigit.
Allegedly, the cause of the difference in number was due to the large number of resolving cases of violence using the tradition of each major region.
Exemplified, cases of sexual harassment at the roof of sexual abuse are resolved by marrying the victim and the perpetrator.
"These problems are then resolved by marrying, but the question is whether by marrying then the problem can be solved? Of course, there needs to be in-depth research," said Sigit.
In-depth investigation is carried out to ensure the settlement of cases of violence against women in a traditional way can really be a solution.
However, if not, said Sigit, it is necessary to find other ways of resolving it. Thus, there are no more cases of violence against women that occur.

"So on the one hand, we can really suppress violence against women against children, on the other hand, the resolution is also in accordance with what is expected by women and children," said Sigit.
