Police Are Still Investigating The Case Of 'Fake Money Factory' At UIN Alauddin Makassar

GOWA - Gowa Police are still investigating the disclosure of the alleged case of producing counterfeit money by certain individuals inside the Campus 2 area of Alauddin State Islamic University (UIN) Makassar, Jalan HM Yasin Limpo, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi.

"What is clear is that we can only provide information that the Gowa Police are indeed handling printing and circulating counterfeit money. Because it is still in the development stage, so we ask our media crew members to understand that," said Head of Public Relations of the Gowa Police, Iptu Kusman Jaya, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 16.

The handling of cases of alleged production and the circulation of counterfeit money within the UIN Alauddin Makassar Campus, Gowa Regency is being investigated and is still under police investigation.

"We have not been able to provide information on how many perpetrators are, because they are still in the development stage. What is clear is that there are (perpetrators being secured), there is evidence. But, I'm sorry that's all we can provide information on. We'll just wait for thepress release. This is currently being handled by the Gowa Police," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chancellor III UIN Alauddin Makassar Prof Muhammad Khalifah Mustam said that his party could not provide a detailed explanation of the case, even though information circulated about making counterfeit money on his campus.

"Regarding the counterfeit money, of course we will wait for the official release of the official news from the police. I think the police have their own mechanisms related to it," he said.

"The fake money is now in the hands of the police. We, the campus, are waiting for the mechanism in the police to work, because we cannot interfere with it," he said.

Regarding the internal UIN Alauddin Campus, he said, of course the rectorate and all leaders will take steps that must be taken related to employees who have been secured by the police.

"No one wants their campus to be tarnished everywhere. We are all ashamed about it and surely the campus, chancellor, and leadership will all take firm action regarding it all, related to that person," he said.
