Russia Reminds Israel's Attacks On Lebanon Makes Middle East Stability Chaotic

JAKARTA - The Kremlin warned that Israeli attacks in Lebanon could potentially destabilize the Middle East and expand the conflict.

Israel attacked Hezbollah's target in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah attacked military facilities in northern Israel on Tuesday, September 24.

The two sides attacked each other a day after nearly 500 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes against Hezbollah's target.

"This is a potentially very dangerous event when it comes to expanding conflict, to total destabilization in the region. It is very worrying for us," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

In a separate statement, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova said Moscow condemned what she called an "indiscriminate" attack on Lebanon targeting civilians.

"It is urgent to stop the spiral of violence before the situation becomes out of control. We call for an immediate cessation of hostilities," he said.

"We have to do everything possible to prevent the Middle East from falling into full-scale armed conflict, which will definitely have an impact on everyone in the region and its surroundings. We are ready to coordinate with international and regional partners to prevent this. disaster scenario," Zakharova added.

Russia has strengthened relations with Hezbollah's protective state, Iran, since the start of a special military operation' in Ukraine. They questioned the proportionality of Israeli bombings in Gaza and the number of civilians killed, thus exacerbating relations with Israel.
