SUMBAR - A total of two legislative candidates (caleg) in Agam Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) died after being designated as a List of Permanent Candidates (DCT) for the 2024 General Election on November 3, 2023.
"The two legislative candidates died after several days of being determined as a permanent candidate list," said the chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Agam Regency in Lubuk Basung, Sunday, November 19, as quoted by Antara. He said the two people who died were on behalf of Samsul Bahri legislative candidate with the number five from PDIP for the election area one covering the Districts of Lubuk Basung and Tanjung Mutiara.
After that, Jimi Samer legislative candidate number one from the Perindo Party for the six electoral districts includes Matur and Tanjung Raya Districts. According to the KPU's direction, he added, the Agam KPU is waiting for a letter from a political party to change the legislative candidate who died, because the change is the authority of the political party. The letter must be from the DPP management which was signed by the general chairman and secretary. "However, until now there is no political party that has submitted a letter to change the file of the legislative candidate who died. "We have informed the Perindo Party and there is no follow-up to replace the candidate who died," he said.

He added, with the deaths of the two legislative candidates, the name of the deceased was still in the ballot. This is because there is no proposal for a replacement from a political party and plus the master of ballots has been agreed and signed by the leadership of a political party. Previously, the master of the ballot had been examined by each political party. "The vote letter has been delivered to Jakarta for the printed process," he said.
