Vehicles That Have Tested Emissions Have Not Increased Siginatively, DKI Provincial Government Adds Free Service Locations

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has added free vehicle emission test service locations. This is done in line with the number of vehicles that have carried out emission tests that have not increased significantly.

Based on data up to October 6, 2023, 1,120,672 four-wheeled vehicles were recorded. Then, only 119,792 two-wheeled vehicles have carried out emission tests out of a total of millions of vehicles passing through Jakarta.

Meanwhile, as of November 17, 2023 at 09.00 WIB, there were 1,228,087 four-wheeled vehicles and only 132,054 two-wheeled vehicles had carried out emission tests.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has added several emission test locations for free in 45 locations and 12 new locations for vehicles over the age of three," said DKI Jakarta Provincial Air Pollution Control Task Force (PPU Task Force) spokesman Ani Ruspitawati in a statement, Sunday, November 19.

In total, the emission test locations spread throughout the DKI Jakarta area are located in 346 workshops for four-wheeled vehicles with 962 technicians and 119 workshops for two-wheeled vehicles with 204 technicians. The location of the emission test workshop can be seen in the JAKI application.

"We hope that more motorized vehicles will carry out emission tests, to support efforts to accelerate the handling of air pollution in Jakarta so that it will be better and healthier," said Ani.

In addition to emission tests, the PPU Task Force also imposed administrative sanctions in the form of government coercion to temporarily suspend or all efforts to three coal storage companies, namely PT TTI, PT TBE, and PT BIG.

As of November 17, 2023, 177 units of water sprayers were recorded in 143 buildings, both government and private buildings.

"A total of 27 water mist units in 21 buildings are in process and are being operated immediately to strengthen efforts to improve air quality," said Ani.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also continue to expand the application of parking tariff disincentives. Currently, it has been implemented in 13 locations of the Parking Management Unit and 32 locations of Perumda Pasar Jaya. The next stage, as many as 19 market locations are in the process of integrating the disincentive system.
