Jokowi Returns To Indonesia After Working Visits To The US And Saudi Arabia
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left for the country, Friday US time, or Saturday morning Indonesian time, after a one-week working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States.
After participating in the APEC Summit series in San Francisco, United States, the Garuda Indonesia (GIA-1) aircraft brought the President and his entourage to take off at around 15.00 local time (WS) or Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 06.00 WIB from San Francisco International Airport.
Reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 18, President Jokowi and his entourage are expected to arrive in the country on Sunday morning, November 19, 2023.
Also accompanying President Jokowi on a flight to the country is Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi.
At APEC summit, Mosconce Center, San Francisco, President Jokowi urged APEC leaders to act to stop the war, speed up the ceasefire, and ensure humanitarian aid for Gazan society can be delivered without a hitch.
Jokowi firmly criticized the conditions that occurred to the people in Gaza. The President considered that currently, let alone the right to build, the right to life for the Gazan people was not respected.
Before we start our topic on inclusive development, let's think for a moment about the people in Gaza. Never mind development, at this time their right to life is not respected," the President said on Friday (17/11) local time.
Furthermore, regarding inclusive development, President Jokowi said that APEC economies need to prioritize the realization of inclusive and resilient economic opportunities and growth.
The Asia Pacific region has great potential, 62 percent of global GDP and 48 percent of world trade comes from APEC, and in the midst of uncertain world situations, APEC needs to prioritize the realization of inclusive and resilient economic opportunities and growth that can be achieved together, "said the Head of State.
During a working visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Jokowi attended the Extraordinary Summit of Organizations for Islamic Cooperation (OKI). At the summit, Jokowi encouraged the OIC to unite and be at the forefront of resolving the crisis in Gaza, Palestine.
"OKI must unite, must be at the forefront of using all means of peace, all influences, and all diplomatic efforts to defend justice and humanity for Palestine," President Jokowi said on November 11, 2023.
