Pilgrimage To Bung Karno's Grave, Ganjar: Megawati Has Been Inviting Megawati For A Long Time

JAKARTA - Candidate for president (candidate) Ganjar Pranowo and his wife, Siti Atikoh and his son, Alam Ganjar made a pilgrimage to the grave of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno or Bung Karno in Blitar, East Java. He admitted that he had long been invited by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"It's been a long time since Megawati wanted to take a pilgrimage with my family," said Ganjar as quoted from his written statement, Friday, November 3.

Apart from Ganjar, the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Mahfud MD also participated with his wife. "It's time to look for the right one today," said the former Governor of Central Java.

Meanwhile, Ganjar-Mahfud was present at Bung Karno's grave at around 14:50 WIB. Also present at the event were the General Chairperson of the PDIP DPP who was also Megawati's son, Prananda Prabowo and Puan Maharani.

Then a number of PDIP elites were also present, including PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP Election Winning Body Chairman Bambang Wuryanto or Bambang Pacul, PDIP DPP Chair Djarot Saiful Hidayat and Yasona H. Laoly.

Ganjar said the pilgrimage to Soekarano's grave was nothing but to pray for the proclaimer of Indonesian independence. In addition, to maintain history and preserve value from the struggle for the establishment of the nation.

"We go together to pray for our proclaimer," he said.

As previously reported, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri would make a pilgrimage to the First President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno or Bung Karno, tomorrow, Friday, November 3. The plan, presidential and vice presidential candidates Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD will attend.

"Tomorrow, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri and her family as well as Mr. Ganjar, Prof. Mahfud MD will make a pilgrimage to Bung Karno's grave in Blitar," Hasto told reporters at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Senayan, Thursday, November 2.

Hasto explained that this pilgrimage was carried out as a form of respect and encouraging Bung Karno, who throughout his life for the country. Because, Megawati from the start said that Indonesia needed a leader who was experienced, clean, and who was able to uphold justice from the start.

"This is as a tribute not only to the proclaimer father of the Indonesian nation but also to start everything like Bung Karno who throughout his life for the nation and state," he said.

"Throughout his life for the unity of the nation, throughout his life for a dedication of life driven by ideals, ideas, thoughts from the people so that the tradition of revealing all aspects of spirituality will be carried out tomorrow," he continued.
