Revealed! This Is Welber Jardim's Reason For Choosing To Strengthen The Indonesian National Team At The 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup Instead Of Brazil
Welber Jardim is currently joining the U-17 Indonesian national team in preparation for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup which will be held from November 10 to December 2. Welber is a footballer who has Indonesian blood and has a career in Brazil.
Welber's career opportunity to defend the Brazilian national team is still open. Moreover, he is currently an active player in the Brazilian team, Sao Paulo.
However, the 16-year-old prefers to move closer to the Indonesian national team. Welber turned out to have his own reasons for his choice.
Welber Jardim admitted that he chose Indonesia because there was a great opportunity to appear in the 2023 U-17 World Cup. He was also proud to be able to strengthen the U-17 Indonesian national team in this prestigious two-year event.
"I don't know either, someone called me to play at the U-17 World Cup. I want to play at the World Cup," Welber Jardim said after training with the U-17 national team at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta on Monday, October 30.
On the other hand, Welfer also said, Indonesian football's atmosphere is also good for young players. Especially in the eyes of the player, the interest of the Indonesian people with football is quite large.
"I want to (play) here because (Football) Indonesia is also good," he said.
Welber Jardim also added that he is familiar with Indonesia because he has lived in Indonesia even though it wasn't that long. His mother's desire to see him appear to defend the national team is also a big impetus for Welfer to join Bima Sakti's team.
"As a child, I was here (Indonesia). My mother is also from Indonesia, she wants me to play in Indonesia, so I play here," continued Welber Jardim.
Welber Jardim is the son of a Brazilian footballer who has played in Indonesia with Perseka Badung and Persiba Balikpapan, Elingelo Jardim de Jesus. Meanwhile, Welber Jardim's mother is an Indonesian native woman, precisely from Banjarmasin.
