Jokowi Will Reshuffle Minister This Week, Democrats Enter The Cabinet?

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo stated that he would reshuffle the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet (KIM) this week to inaugurate a definitive agricultural minister replacing Syahrul Yasin Limpo who resigned because he was involved in a case of alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture. "Maybe this week," said Jokowi after attending an economic seminar in Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, October 24. Asked which ministry posts will be reshuffled, Jokowi only said the position of minister of agriculture. After Syahrul Yasin Limpo resigned, the position of minister of agriculture was then held by the Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi as the executor of the task (plt). Jokowi added that his party was still preparing for the cabinet reshuffle, so he could not confirm when exactly the reshuffle would be carried out. "It is still being prepared," he added.

When asked by the media crew whether the new agriculture minister would come from the Democratic Party, Jokowi did not give a statement. He only nodded his head as he passed by leaving the crowd of journalists. Syahrul Yasin Limpo resigned on October 5, 2023 because he was caught in a corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture. Jokowi then Arief Prasetyo Adi in the midst of El Nino's weather challenges which caused drought and reduced rice production.
