IDX Carbon Records Transactions At IDX Reaches 460 Thousand Tons Of CO2e
JAKARTA - The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDI) recorded a volume of carbon transactions on the Carbon Exchange (IDX Carbon) of 460 thousand tons of equivalent CO2 since it was opened on Tuesday, September 26.
IDX President Director, Imam Rachman said that trading on the Carbon Exchange is not the same as the stock market, which is always busy with buying and selling activities.
"This Carbon (Bursa) is indeed not like buy and sell shares to be bought for a series buy and hold. When he talks, he is quiet because buying a hold is no longer trading," said Imam to the media met in Jakarta, Monday, October 23.
He also emphasized that the IDX is still focused on organizing domestic carbon and has not carried out an exancise abroad. Moreover, the Carbon Exchange was only launched on September 26 last.
"Now it is possible to trade domestically and not internationally," added Imam.
Previously, the Chief Executive of the Capital Market Supervisory, Derivative Finance, and the OJK Carbon Exchange, Inarno Djajadi, also asked the public not to compare the Carbon IDX with the stock market.
"The lack of carbon exchanges may not compare with the equity market. So it's different, the characters are different and of course this is not a trade that speculation and buying and selling in one day will come out," said Inarno.

Inarno also compared the achievements of the Indonesian Carbon Exchange with the neighboring Carbon Exchange such as Singapore and Malaysia, which took approximately a year until the first trade could take place.
"Meanwhile, from launching to September 29, there were transactions of Rp. 29.2 billion," concluded Inarno.
