Fish Canning Industry Reaches World Market, Minister Of Industry Appreciates This Producer

"The delivery of fish canning products from Indonesia to these countries shows that national industrial products are able to compete and can meet the strict quality requirements in Europe and other countries, because to be able to penetrate Germany alone is not easy, they have very high standards. Moreover, standards in the food sector," said Minister of Industry Agus in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, October 20.
So far, CV Pacific Harvest itself has produced sardines and tuna with a production capacity of 24,000 tons per year, and the export percentage is 65-80 percent.
"We also appreciate it, because the company's utilization has reached 60 percent in the midst of current conditions, and I am optimistic that it can still be improved again. I am targeting Indonesia to enter the five largest countries in the world for fish canning exporters," said Agus.
Agus assessed that in terms of supporting the national economy, CV Pacific Harvest has increased production and expanded export coverage by optimizing local human resources. In fact, the company absorbs 5,000 workers from residents around the factory.
"This of course can bring fresh air to the manufacturing industry sector and have a positive impact on improving the Indonesian economy," he said.
He also hopes that the CV Pacific Harvest export release activity can inspire more manufacturing industry players in Indonesia to have high confidence in their efforts to run their business.
"This is in accordance with the government's determination to create a conducive business climate by issuing various strategic programs and policies," he said.

In order to support the increase in the export of the fish canning industry, Agus said, the government has rolled out various strategic policies, both in terms of supply and demand, including guaranteeing the availability of raw materials, increasing competitiveness and industrial productivity, as well as expanding market access and reducing trade barriers.
In addition, Agus continued, this industry also requires the availability of cans. According to him, this opportunity needs to be taken by the domestic industry to produce cans according to specifications for the export market, so that the quality of fish is maintained.
"I am sure, if there is assistance or facilitation from the government, the export performance of fish canning companies will be able to double," he added.
For your information, currently, there are around 70 large-scale fish canning industries with a total production of 308,000 tons in 2022. The fish canning industry is also a labor-intensive sector that has absorbed up to 29,500 workers.
