OKI Calls Israel's Aggression Bombing Al-Ahli Hospital In Gaza War Crime

JAKARTA - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemns Israel's attack on the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza. OIC calls the attack an act of "organized state terrorism" and "war crimes".

Citing Antara, the OIC statement asserted the Muslim bloc 57 demanded, "Israel's occupation of the consequences of its crimes, terrorist practices and brutal attacks on the Palestinian people, which goes against all values of humanity and constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."

The OIC also stressed the need for accountability and punishment for the Israeli action.

The international community, particularly the UN Security Council, must immediately step in to stop war crimes committed by Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip and provide international protection for the Palestinian people", the statement said.

More than 500 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told Anadolu.

Video footage on social media shows bodies lying in the hospital's yard.

According to Anadolu journalists in the field, thousands of Palestinians were in the hospital when the building was bombarded.
