Prices Continue To Soar, BPS Reveals These 3 Commodities Become Serious Attention
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency said that there were three main commodities that contributed to the change in the Producer Price Index (IHP) in the second week of October 2023.
The three commodities are granulated sugar, rice, and cayenne pepper.
"Some of the commodity developments that affect the change in the IHP until the second week of October 2023 are granulated sugar, rice, and cayenne pepper," said Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti at the 2023 World Food Day commemoration event monitored online in Jakarta, on Monday, October 16.
Amalia said that almost all regencies/cities in the country experienced a significant change in the IHP for the three commodities.
He said Gorontalo was the province with the highest IHP increase in Indonesia, which was 6.1 percent.
"Then North Sulawesi Province, namely in Bolaang Mongondow Regency 5.32 percent and also Bitung City 5.05 percent, then Mamasa 4.54 percent, and East Lombok 4.48 percent," said Amalia.
He explained that the three commodities above need to be a common concern in the future, so that prices throughout Indonesia can be controlled and keep people's purchasing power.
"Perhaps some of the commodities that need to be paid attention to in the second week of October are sugar, of which 338 districts/cities have experienced an increase in the IHP and are contributed by sugar," said Amalia.
"The second is rice, there are 283 regencies/cities that have experienced an increase in rice commodities. Then, the third is cayenne pepper, of which 259 regencies/cities have also contributed by cayenne pepper," he added.
