Ministry Of PUPR Values Jakarta-Merak And Serang-Rangkasbitung Toll Roads, This Is The Goal
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) assesses the quality of toll road and rest area services on the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road and Serang-Panimbang Toll Road Section 1 of the Serang-Rangkasbitung section on Thursday-Friday, October 12-13 October.
PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said improving the quality of toll road services would have an impact on user comfort and safety.
"We believe that a better toll road environment will contribute to comfort and safety in driving on toll roads, especially not only the road but also the rest area," Minister Basuki said in a written statement, quoted Monday, October 16.
The ongoing toll road assessment is carried out every year by the Ministry of PUPR in order to encourage the transformation, innovation, and modernization of toll roads.
In addition, to give appreciation to toll roads that are considered to have met the Minimum Service Standards (SPM).
The Expert Team / Expert for the Sustainable Toll Road Assessment (JTB) Endang Setyaningrum said, in addition to fulfilling SPM, JTB's assessment in 2023 also emphasized improving the quality of gender-friendly facilities, increasing public concern for toll road users, and expanding access to local economic investment.
Endang said that the supporting function and complementary function in the rest area must be fulfilled, such as the availability of toilets, parking areas, gas stations, prayer rooms, and so on.
Meanwhile, the Expert Team / Expert of JTB Achmad Gani Ghazali Akman said that BUJT as the toll road manager has control over toll road and rest area services.
Thus, BUJT must be able to innovate in improving the quality of toll road services and managed rest areas, one of which is by involving the community and local governments.
"BUJT also needs to continue to maintain cooperation with local governments. If there are obstacles beyond the control and authority of BUJT, immediately coordinate with local governments so that they can be handled immediately. This is all for the convenience of toll road users," he said.
The Jakarta-Merak toll road with a total length of 72.45 kilometers (km) is managed by two BUJTs. The Jakarta-Tangerang toll road section by PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, while the Tangerang-Merak toll road is managed by PT Marga Mandalasakti (ASTRA Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak).

Meanwhile, the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road managed by PT Wijaya Karya Serang-Panimbang has a total length of 83.6 km which is divided into 3 sections.
Section 1 along 26.5 km connecting Serang-Rangkasbitung has been operating since 2021.
Meanwhile, Section 2 along 24.17 km connecting Rangkasbitung-Cileles and Section 3 along 33 km connecting Cileles-Panimbang is still in the construction process which is targeted to be completely completed by the end of 2024.
