Jambi Police Thwarts The Practice Of Trafficking In Persons To Malaysia

Jambi Police Ditreskrimum officers arrested a perpetrator carrying six victims of a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) who would be dispatched from Kerinci to Malaysia.

"Together with the Kerinci Police, the team found a perpetrator carrying six TIP victims who would depart from the area from Kerinci to Malaysia," said Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Police, Police Commissioner Mulia Prianto, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 12.

The disclosure of this case of trafficking in persons occurred when a prospective Indonesian migrant worker from Kerinci would be dispatched to Malaysia via travel brought by a migrant worker or illegal tekong with the initials L (47).

The disclosure occurred on Tuesday at around 20.45 WIB. The Kerinci Police Satreskrim Opsnal Unit stopped a white minibus, which is suspected of transporting victims of trafficking people who will be brought to Malaysia.

The victims were dispatched by air through the airport in West Sumatra. The car carrying the six victims was stopped on the road in Lubuk Nagodang Village, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency, Jambi.

Found in the transport car were five women and one man who would be dispatched and employed in Malaysia by L (47).

The five women are planned to be employed as household assistants. Meanwhile, another victim, a man, will be employed as a janitor with a salary of at least 1,500 RM per month or equivalent to Rp. 4 million.

The process of departing prospective migrant workers is declared illegal because they do not have legality and related official permits and are carried out individually.

"The victim was promised a job in Malaysia, and the salary for 4 months will be cut by the perpetrator," he said.

The perpetrators were immediately arrested for further questioning, the police also brought evidence, namely five victims' passports, one cell phone, four Padang - Malaysia departure tickets and Kerinci - Padang travel tickets.
