Papuan Police Establish Posts In Serambakon, Bintang Mountains, Anticipating KKB Disturbances

JAYAPURA - The Papuan Regional Police (Polda) established a post in Serambakon, Bintang Mountains Regency, to anticipate the re-interference of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"It is true that currently in the area, 35 personnel from the Papua Police Mobile Brigade have been established and 35 personnel are stationed," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri, in Jayapura, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 6.

In addition, said the Kapolda, his party had asked the TNI to also establish posts, so that they could strengthen each other's security in the area.

According to him, the Brimob post is expected to make Serambakon and the surrounding area safe from KKB disturbances and sympathizers.

The Kapolda said that currently the situation in Serambakon and Oksibil Districts is conducive and community activities are back to normal.

Even so, he said, the TNI and Polri apparatus were on standby to anticipate the disturbances carried out by the KKB.

"The TNI and Polri will always try to protect the public from KKB disturbances and will enforce the law against the perpetrators," said Inspector General of Police Fakhiri.

The KKB led byPP Mimin, September 18, 2023, shot and killed members of the Brimob Polda North Sulawesi Briptu Agung and injured three civilians.

In addition, KKB also burned a number of buildings in the two areas in the Bintang Mountains Regency.

On September 30, 2023, a joint team of the TNI and Polri carried out an attack on the KKB headquarters around Serambakon District, killing five KKB members.

The joint team also secured three firearms, including two organic weapons from the TNI and hundreds of ammunition.
