KPK Did Not Pick Up Minister Of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo Tonight

JAKARTA - Head of the KPKali News Section Fikri ensured that the investigative team would not pick up the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo tonight.

"No, (picked up tonight)," said Ali when confirmed by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 4.

The atmosphere of the KPK's Red and White building was also observed to be deserted without any special preparations or additional security.

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo is known to have left for Italy with 22 Delegations from the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) on September 24, 2023.

Syahrul left Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, on September 24, 2023 to Doha, Qatar, for transit before heading to Rome, Italy.

The Minister of Agriculture was originally scheduled to arrive in the country on Saturday (30/9), although the Ministry of Agriculture had lost contact with Syahrul Yasin Limpo until he was reported to have arrived in Jakarta this afternoon.

Separately, the Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Silmy Karim said that the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo had been detected entering Indonesian Immigration on Wednesday evening.

"He has entered Indonesian Immigration at 18.41 WIB," said Silmy.

KPK investigators on Friday, September 29, 2023, announced that they had raised the status of suspected corruption cases at the Ministry of Agriculture to the investigation stage.

Ali explained that KPK investigators had named a number of parties as suspects in the case. However, the KPK has not been able to announce who the parties have been named as suspects because the investigation and collection of evidence is still ongoing.

Along with the progress of the investigation, the KPK then searched the official residence of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo at the Widya Chandra complex, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 28, 2023, and found evidence in the form of cash in rupiah denominations and foreign currencies.

Ali has not given the nominal amount of money confiscated during the search, but the nominal reaches tens of billions.

In addition to cash, KPK investigators confiscated a number of evidences in the form of documents during the search process. "Including several documents, such as financial records and the provision of economic value assets and other documents related to the case," said Ali.

Various pieces of evidence found will then be confiscated for analysis and included in the investigation file.

During the search, KPK investigators found 12 firearms that have now been handed over to Polda Metro Jaya for follow-up.

The article applied in the case is Article 12 (e) of the Corruption Crime Law regarding extortion.

"This case is related to allegations of corruption with the intention of unlawfully benefiting oneself or others or by abusing their power forcing someone to give something," said Ali.

Article 12 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2021 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption reads: "He is sentenced to life imprisonment or imprisonment for a minimum of four years and a maximum of 20 years and a fine of at least Rp. 200 million and a maximum of Rp. 1 billion".

With points (e) it reads "National employees or state administrators who intend to benefit themselves or others against the law, or by abusing their power force a person to give something, pay, or accept payments with deductions, or to do something for himself".
