Fires On Mount Lebak And Garut Cancil Have Been Extinguished, The Situation Has Been Declared Conducive
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Garut Regency, West Java stated that forest land fires in two locations of Gunung Kancil and Gunung Lebak Serang had been extinguished after joint officers extinguished them.
"Information on the temporary monitoring of the fire has begun to subside, the team is still monitoring to ensure the fire is completely extinguished," said Garut Regency BPBD Chief Executive totaling Anwar Saefulloh in Garut, Sunday, October 1.
He said the forest fire disaster was reported to have occurred on Saturday, September 30 evening on the forest land of Gunung Kancil, Pasir Angin Block, Kancil Village, Karyamukti Village, Cibatu District, then the location of forest land in Gunung Lebak Serang, Sukawening District.
The location of the fire on Mount Kancil, he said, was a slashing from a forest area in Sukawening District which was thought to have originated from the burning of wood and dry leaves on the land.
"Some of the fire at some point has started to quench and is under control, smoke does not lead to settlements," he said.
Furthermore, the location of the fire on Mount Lebak Serang was suspected to be due to a dry grass that caught fire and then spread to forest land.
The area of the burned land, said God willing, is about 30 hectares, all of which are Perhutani land and are far from residential areas of about 2 km of residents' houses.

The fires in the two locations deployed a number of joint personnel from BPBD, firefighters, the police, the TNI, and the local community.
The head of the Cibatu Police, AKP Misno, said that the burned area included Karya Mukti Village, Wanakerta Village, and Padasuka Village, all of which had been successfully extinguished and there were no casualties.
Apart from the Cibatu Police, the Sukawening Police were also deployed to deal with forest fires in the Sukawening District area.
