Unlike His Father And Sister, Kaesang Officially Joins PSI
JAKARTA - The youngest child of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Kaesang Pangarep has officially become a cadre of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). He has received a membership card (KTA) in Solo, Central Java today, Saturday, September 23.
This decision is different from his father's political career, President Jokowi and his brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is a PDI-P (PDIP) cadre.
"That's right (Kaesang joined PSI, ed). It just finished (the handover of KTA, ed)," said Acting Secretary General of PSI Isyana Bagoes Oka when confirmed by VOI, Saturday, September 23.
Isyana did not want to talk about the position PSI would give President Jokowi's son. However, he believes that Kaesang will become new energy for his party.
"We are very happy to get additional new energy and increase the enthusiasm for all of our cadres at PSI. Please pray for it," he said.
Kaesang reportedly entered PSI after a video of a man named 'Mawar' was uploaded to the party's social media account. This upload is crowded because of the silhouette of the face that is depicted like Erina Gudono's husband.
As previously reported, President Jokowi has spoken about the news that Kaesang entered PSI. He said what his son chose was his own responsibility.
"Yes, I have often said, if the children are married, they already have their own home, they already have their wives, they must be independent and must be responsible. This means that what has been decided has become his responsibility," said Jokowi at Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 21.
When reporters asked if Kaesang first discussed with him before joining PSI, Jokowi talked about his blessing.
"Yes, it's normal in the family to ask for blessings. Because I said no, I will still walk. My children are like that," said Jokowi.
