JAKARTA - PT Pembiayaan Digital Indonesia (Ada Kami) is said to be fulfilling orders from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to conduct an in-depth investigation to ensure reports of suicide victims that have gone viral in recent days.

President Director of Ada Kami Bernardino Moningka Vega Jr. said his party had been investigating since this viral news emerged.

He claims that to this day his party has not received complete information regarding the identity of the victim from the X rakyavspinjol account, to be able to associate it with the alleged debt collector (DC), and is still trying to get the identity of the account owner who first wrote the victim's information on social media.

"Ada Kami sudah dianggil langsung oleh OJK untuk menjelaskan situ perkaranya. Dari hasil pemanggilan tersebut, kami telah melakukan penyidikan awal untuk mencari debitur berinisial 'K' yang marak diberitakan, namun belum menemukan debitur yang sesuai dengan informasi yang beredar. Sebagai perusahaan fintech P2P lending berizinan OJK, kami tentunya patuh terhadap peraturan dan perintah otoritas. Kami masih terus melakukan investigasi indal mengenai keberian berita tersebut, ujarnya melalui keterangan tertulis, Jumat, 22 September.

Bernardino revealed that his party still needs the identity of the victim in question, such as a full name, ID card number and cell phone number, which is actually very much needed to follow up on checking whether the victim is really a Ada Kami debtor who has arrears and traces the record of the collection process.

"This is in accordance with the applicable procedures in terms of enforcing the KYC (know your customer) process for all Ada Kami service users. Verification of the identity of the victim will prove the truth of the news circulating," he said.

Bernardino emphasized that in carrying out business practices, especially collection practices, Ada We apply according to the SOP of the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI), including intimidation, physical and mental violence, offending SARA or degrading dignity.

Once again, regarding this viral news, Ada We will take firm action against non-ethical billing actors and do not comply with the code of conduct that has been determined by the regulator. Yes, we will cooperate with the competent authorities to resolve it so that it does not become a bad precedent for companies and industries. If it is proven that there has been an act of violation of billing with violence as reported, then Ada We are ready to issue a warning letter up to termination of employment, if necessary, carry out legal remedies," he explained.

On the same occasion, Secretary General of the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI) Sunu Widyatmoko said AFPI was also accompanying the investigation process carried out by Ada Kami, to ensure the truth of the viral news.

In addition, AFPI certainly checks Ada Kami's business practices whether they are in accordance with the code of conduct imposed by the fintech industry P2P lending.

"AFPI also conducts joint investigations with Ada Kami, because cases like this could happen to other members. If indeed from the results of the investigation there is no evidence of an error from Ada Kami, namely the information circulating cannot be proven to be true, this will set a bad precedent for the industry, damaging public trust. Even though digital financing through fintech lending can access underserved and unbanked communities," said Sunu.
