Geopolitical Rivality Is Getting Sharper, Jokowi Calls AIPF Turns Into A Win-Win Formula Cooperation
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that the country's rivalry or competition is currently sharpening, including in the Indo-Pacific region. Therefore, he said, efforts need to change the tension of rivalry into a partnership.
Furthermore, Jokowi said that to change the tension of this rivalry, ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) 2023 was presented.
"For this reason, the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific forum is here to change rivalry in Indo-Pacific to become a useful collaboration and build a habbit of cooprration that wins a formula without any feeling ostracized," he said during his opening speech at AIPF 2023, at the Mulia Hotel, Senayan, Jakarta, September 5.
Jokowi is also grateful that in the midst of weakening the global economy, the ASEAN economy, economic growth is actually good and continues to grow. In fact, it grew beyond other regions.

"We should be grateful that in the midst of weakening the world economy, the ASEAN economy has proven to be resilient and continues to grow beyond global economic growth and other areas with a population of 680 million people," he said.
Furthermore, Jokowi said, with a population of 680 million people, ASEAN became a potential market for investment. Even so, Jokowi said there are still challenges faced in the future.
"ASEAN is also a potential market with promising investment opportunities but the jita area is not immune from various global and geopolitical challenges that sharpen, especially the potential for conflict in the Indo-pagific," he said.
