Record Of Indonesian Audience Arena, New Era Of Sports Industry

JAKARTA - The Indonesia Arena broke the record for indoor sporting events on the first day of the 2023 FIBA ​​World Cup. A total of 12,091 seats were filled and the largest number in the history of sports in Indonesia.

PP Secretary General of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi), Nirmala Dewi, said this new record marked a new era for the sports industry in the country.

"Like it or not, we have to be ready to enter a new era, an era in which our sports are moving towards industry. Gradually, but that's for sure," said Nirmala, as quoted by Antara.

He said the high enthusiasm of the sports community for holding the Basketball World Cup indicated that the basketball industry had a very good future in Indonesia.

Until now, on the third day of implementation, the FIBA ​​World Cup matches have consistently attracted the attention of national basketball fans with many tickets being sold.

"Ticket sales for Game Day 3, the match between Lebanon and Canada, sold 11,041 tickets. Then for the match between France and Latvia, 11,082 tickets were sold," said Nirmala.

This activity attracted media attention at home and abroad. As many as 104 journalists from abroad attended to cover the world basketball event at the Indonesia Arena which took place from 25 August to 3 September 2023.

Meanwhile for local media, there were 264 journalists who registered. Of that number, 176 journalists received FIBA ​​approval to cover the 2023 FIBA ​​World Cup.

Apart from that, it was also recorded that there were eight countries whose citizens were willing to fly all the way to invade the Indonesia Arena to support their team. Even Latvian fans came to Jakarta in groups on one plane.

"Despite the good public interest, so far the implementation has remained smooth and safe. We would like to thank all those who have contributed to the smooth running of the FIBA ​​World Cup 2023 so far," said Nirmala.
