Police Open Forcing The West Trans Papua Road Blockade In Manokwari

MANOKWARI - Manokwari City Police (Polresta) succeeded in forcibly opening the blockade of the Maruni road, which is Jalan Trans Papua Barat.

Manokwari Police Chief Kombes Rivadin Benny Simangunsong said the police did not tolerate any road blockade that hampered community activities.

"We will not tolerate the action of public facilities," said Rivadin Benn as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 7.

He explained that the road blockade was the aftermath of the robbery incident that occurred some time ago. The perpetrators of the robbery have been arrested and mediation has been sought between the two victims and the perpetrators.

However, the request for compensation from the victim's family is very irrelevant so that the perpetrator's family does not accept it.

"We have mediated but there is no common ground because the request for compensation is beyond logic," he said.

Ditegaskan kapolres, kepolisian menghormati kewiasan lokal dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang terjadi di tengah masyarakat setempat.

However, the implementation of local wisdom is often misused in order to realize the interests of a group of people.

"The state will not lose to people who have personal interests," he said.

The police, he said, first negotiated with the families of the victims who blocked the road.

This effort was ignored by a group of residents, so members of the police forcibly opened the blockade of the Trans Papua Barat road section.

"One perpetrator who shot a police officer with a bow has been arrested," said Benny.

The Manokwari Police have identified a number of perpetrators who are suspected of being the mastermind behind the blockade of the Trans Papua Barat road.

It is possible that the victims of the robbery can also be used as suspects if they are proven to be the masterminds of the action.

"What should be a victim, we can make a suspect. This blockade disrupts security stability," he said.

Benny explained that there were three points of blockade of the Trans Papua Barat road in the Maruni area, South Manokwari District, Manokwari Regency.

The road that is blocked is the main access link between Manokwari and South Manokwari Regency and the Arfak Mountains.

"We have opened three points. The traffic flow, which had traffic jams, has returned to normal," said Benny.
