Sri Mulyani: LPDP Management Fund Of IDR 139 Trillion Helps Realize Indonesian Children's Dreams

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) is now managing more than Rp139 trillion in state money aimed at realizing the dreams of Indonesian children.

This is one of the instruments to realize our dreams so that the sons and daughters of the younger generation of Indonesia. Those who have high dreams and ambitions, do not see challenges as something that makes them discouraged, but they will compete very hard. They excel and then achieve by getting scholarships at the best universities in the world and in places they really want to pursue," he said, quoted Friday, August 4.

According to the Minister of Finance, the scholarship program provided by LPDP is open to the nation's children throughout the country through an affirmation program. He said, Indonesian children who came from leading, outermost areas, were left behind (3T) had the same opportunity to fight for their dreams.

"We also make affirmations, especially for young students who come from 3T areas. This is also a form that all Indonesian children wherever they are, they have the right to have a dream, they have the right to fight for their dreams," he said.

The Minister of Finance explained that the funds managed by LPDP have gradually increased from 11 years ago with only Rp1 trillion in basic capital. It was stated that with the existing managed funds, the total scholarship recipients reached more than 200,000 people. Not only that, as many as 2,426 research projects have also been funded by LPDP.

"LPDP students are also present to provide support in the downstream sector by sending human resources to the best universities," he added.

The Minister of Finance added, with the cooperation of government to government (G2G), the Indonesian government with China through the co-funding program to educate experts in the field of metabolic, nickel, and cobalt for the electric car and battery ecosystem. G2G cooperation is also carried out with the Dutch Government and Singapore in the fields of maritime, agriculture, and entrepreneurship which are national priorities.

"We are grateful for all the trust given by the President to all of us as children, all of whom are young people, who if we gather here feel they are still young, Father. They are the ones who will continue to carry on our ideals to build Indonesia, improve Indonesia, keep Indonesia for the better," he concluded.
