Kemarau Causes Temperatures At The Peak Of Mount Turun
CIANJUR - Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park Center (TNGGP) Cianjur, West Java, noted a decrease in temperature at the top of the mountain due to the dry season, so climbers are asked to be more physically prepared, standard equipment, and jackets when climbing.
Head of the TNGGP Center, Sapto Aji, said that the drastically falling air temperature in the dry season makes dew and water freeze, so that the air temperature can make climbers susceptible to hypothermia.
"The ice phenomenon at the top of Mount Gede Pangrango is happening as viral on social media, plants, tents, and climber jackets covered in thin ice such as snow, so we ask climbers to bring complete climbing equipment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 1.
Along with natural phenomena that also occur in a number of mountains in Indonesia because the dry season has arrived, his party has alerted officers, assisted by volunteers, residents and other tourism actors to evacuate climbers experiencing hypothermia.
The air temperature at the top of Mount Gede Pangrango, he said, had decreased to the freezing point, resulting in the phenomenon of plants, rocks, and climbers' tents being attached to ice.

"To keep from being infected with hypothermia, climbers are also asked to wear thick jackets and bring enough supplies while at the top of the mountain. Of course, what we remind climbers to be in good health while climbing," he said.
Sapto also asked climbers to follow the applicable rules, especially maintaining cleanliness while climbing by not littering and not damaging or disturbing protected plants along the hiking trail to the top of the mountain.
"All climbers must be smart, not leave the garbage brought to preserve and clean the nature, including on the hiking trail," he said.
