In The Aftermath Of 8 People Trapped In A Mining Hole, The Regency Government Will Permanently Close Illegal Gold Mining In Banyumas

PURWOKERTO - Banyumas Regent Achmad Husein utilizes a discretionary mechanism related to the plan to permanently close illegal gold mines in Pancurendang Village, Banyumas Regency, considering that this is the authority of the Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov).

"Discretion is something that has not been regulated, we will take it, because this is public safety," he said in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, quoted by ANTARA Friday, July 28.

Regarding the handling and evacuation of eight miners who were trapped in an illegal gold mine pit, Pancurendang Village, Ajibarang District, since Tuesday night.

His party will first study the discretion that will be used by the Banyumas Regency Government (Pemkab) before a permanent closure is carried out.

"Later, if we close it in a juridical manner, the formal is correct, not just closed, closed, later open again. If it is closed, the formal juridicals are correct, then if they open later, there will be legal sanctions," said Regent Achmad Husein.

Regarding the evacuation of miners, his party has held meetings with various stakeholders, including Basarnas last Thursday which agreed Basarnas as the authorities for the evacuation and the district government supports the necessary equipment such as generators and water pumps with large capacities.

"We fulfill it, because the one who can work and has knowledge is Basarnas, so we just follow Basarnas, so the spokesperson is Basarnas," he said.

On a separate occasion, the Head of the Cilacap Basarnas Office, Adah Sudarsa, said that in the search and rescue operation, the joint SAR team was divided into five workplaces, namely A-1 at Sumur Bogor, A-2 at Sumur Dondong, A-3, suction well I, A-4 was extracted by Sumur II, and A-5 at the river dam.

"With a description of the task of carrying out water suction using even greater submersibles and closing location points suspected of leakage to the excavation hole," he explained.

In addition, he said, the Central Java Provincial Government's Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has again lowered the hole camera to the excavation hole where eight gold miners were trapped to ensure the discharge of water addition, in order to calculate the length of work.

Eight miners have reportedly been trapped in a gold mine pit since Tuesday at 23.00 WIB, because suddenly water came inundating the mining area.

The eight trapped miners consisted of Cecep Suriyana (29), Rama Abd Rohman (38), Ajat (29), Mad Kholis (32), Marmumin (32), Muhidin (44), Jumadi (33), and Mulyadi (40) and all of them came from Bogor Regency, West Java.
